Celkové hodnotenie strediska (počet hviezdičiek) neodráža prostý priemer, sú tu zohľadnené viaceré faktory vrátane aktuálnosti recenzií.
Rezervoval som Red River pre rodinu, pretože to bolo označené ako „dobré pre začiatočníkov“. Je to už 10 alebo viac rokov, čo niekto v rodine lyžoval, a mali sme 8-ročného začiatočníka. Veľmi drahá lyžiarska škola pre deti bola označená ako vynikajúca. Inštruktor môjho vnuka, Brian, strávil väčšinu času rozhovormi s nimi, kým sa učili stáť na lyžiach. Išli hore iba krátkou pohyblivou lanovkou. Do konca dňa lyžoval veľmi málo. Keď sme sa pýtali na lanovku, Brian povedal, že sa k lanovkám dostali až po tom, čo deti boli 3 dni v lyžiarskej škole. (v prepočte 750,00 dolárov) Chcem bezpečnosť, nie zotrvačnosť. Naproti tomu pred 30 rokmi jeho otec, keď mal 7 rokov, absolvoval lekciu v Angel Fire. Napoludnie bol hore na hore a lyžoval ako ryba vo vode.
Okrem toho má Red River len hŕstku skutočne zelených zjazdoviek, pokiaľ nejdete na zadnú stranu hory. Hoci je táto oblasť vynikajúca a má veľa skutočne zelených zjazdoviek, jediná cesta dole z hory je modrá zjazdovka označovaná ako zelená. Dokonca aj dobrí lyžiari v našej skupine mali problémy a neviem, či môj DIL ešte niekedy bude lyžovať. Z tohto dôvodu sa Taos vyhýbam – vedú tam len dve cesty dole – jedna, kde sa dá lyžovať navždy, a jedna ako táto, ktorá je strmá a náročná pre úplného začiatočníka. Ak chcete zostať v Novom Mexiku, odporúčam ísť do Angel Fire alebo do Copper, ak chcete dobrý súbor hôr, ktorý oddeľuje lyžiarov a je bezpečný pre všetkých.

Prvýkrát som lyžoval na tomto mieste. Chcel som to vyskúšať. Žiadne čakanie. Veľa rôznych zjazdoviek. Veľa snehu. Veľa značiek zjazdoviek, takže ste vedeli, kam ísť. Menšie miesto, takže menej davov. Ľahšie sa tu orientuje. Určite sa sem vrátim. Jednoduchý stánok na kúpu lístkov na skipas.

Great size mountain for a family with kids of different ages and abilities. Got a good snow early in the week that made for great conditions. Had a wonderful visit and will definitely be back!

My mother-in-law had a cabin here for years. We did more cross-country skiing, but did do some downhill. The mountain would be a good one to learn on, but a more experienced skier will soon be bored. Unfortunately spring skiing is hit-or-miss because of the lower elevation. The town itself is really boring, just a few restaurants, none of which are very good, and no apres ski scene to speak of. Taos Ski Valley is better in every way.

This is a great little ski resort, and the town has everything you want. You have to understand this is not a large resort like Winter Park. It is much smaller. But the trade off is a lot less people. While the town is full and vibrant during the peak season, there are never long lift lines. But the town has great shops, friendly people, and a great selection of restaurants. The mountain does not have a lot of exceptional terrain, but it has a variety of blue and green runs for all levels of skiers to enjoy. Give it a try, you will not be disappointed. By the way, I recommend going to Colorado for spring break skiing. It is usually pretty warm in New Mexico at that time and the snow can be sparse and/or slushy at that time.

We've been skiing Taos, Purgatory, Angel Fire and Ski Apache for the last ten+ years. Mostly at Taos and Purgatory, only trying the others once. Red River is a nice mountain when they have snow. Not much snow at Spring Break this year. I don't know about other years. Spring Break can be funny, weather wise. We've been in blizzards and deserts, this year at Red River a desert. We skied three days. It got pretty slushy early. Some runs should have been closed but were not. Lots of exposed grass, stumps and...well, no snow. They do a pretty good job of bringing the mountain back up to speed by morning, but this spring break just didn't have enough snow for me. Coming down the top lift by 11:00 had big mixture of slush. I'm sure it's great when there is snow, I did see lots of people enjoying themselves. We left early our last day.

This is a great little ski mountain when they have snow (middle of winter, early spring) I have only been here once, mainly since I am an expert skier and usually end up at nearby Taos, the mecca of steep. But, I was glad I came because Red River has some great medium-steep runs too. I consider it best for beginner and advanced skiers. The beginner area at the base is fairly large, and there is another whole beginner area up at the top of the mountain! It is a little unusual the way they have it split up into little areas each served by its own short lift, but that makes it great for families with children. Your children would have to try really hard to get lost on this mountain! This is one of the few ski areas in NM with a town right at the base, ski-in, ski-out.
